Why Indians choose to study abroad

The  appeal of better career  openings, deeper artistic absorption and  learning new languages are the major motivational factors for Indian  scholars to pursue advanced education abroad, according to a study by overseas education company Oxford International Education Services.  

Nearly 50 of the Indian  scholars surveyed cited better career  openings as the top motivational factor to study abroad, while 42 cited artistic experience and 41 cited development of language chops as  commanding motivational factors.   About 50 of Indian  scholars stated ‘ Cost of Living ’ and 35 of Indian  scholars stated ‘ High education  freights ’ as the biggest  walls for pursuing advanced education overseas, according to the Oxford International's Student Global Mobility Index( SGMI). 

 Conducted collaboratively by Oxford International and The Knowledge Partnership, which specializes in global pupil  exploration, the SGMI study covered a sample size of  further than 500 current and prospective  scholars in  crucial  requests  similar as India, Pakistan, Vietnam, and Nigeria.  

 The last couple of times,post-pandemic, have seen an  adding  number of  scholars from India looking to study abroad, not  dissuaded by the macroeconomic  query in the US and Europe, and rising job losses in some of the destination countries.  A lesser number of backing options,  further vacuity of aids and  literacy, rising influence of social media platforms are some of the factors fuelling the demand.  

 “ The findings from our study this time provides a fresh perspective about the evolving  requirements, preferences and challenges of the Indian  scholars that will play a significant  part in reshaping the education  geography, ” said Mohit Gambir, managing director, Oxford International Education Services said.   The study also showed that 42 of Indian  scholars believe that studying a specific subject would enhance their job prospects upon  scale. 

  About 35 of the Indian  scholars feel they will have the  occasion for a more- paid career after studying abroad.   Nearly 38 of the  scholars from India would like to pursue advanced education abroad to  gain a global perspective.   Postgraduate  scholars in India( 52) displayed a lesser inclination towards cultivating a different set of chops and knowledge driven by  particular interest.   Among Indian  scholars, 14 perceive it as  further  grueling  to enrole in a foreign programme than in their home country.
